Dune: Awakening supports English, German and a range of other languages, but not every language is on the list. Czech, for example, is missing from both the interface and the subtitles, and Funcom hasn’t announced any Czech localization so far. The voice-over is in English in every version. Here’s the full list of supported languages and what you can do if yours isn’t among them.
Supported languages
| Language | Interface and subtitles | Voice-over |
|---|---|---|
| English | yes | yes |
| French, Italian, German, Spanish | yes | no |
| Japanese, Korean | yes | no |
| Polish, Brazilian Portuguese | yes | no |
| Russian, Ukrainian, Turkish | yes | no |
| Simplified and Traditional Chinese | yes | no |
| Czech | no | no |
Spoken dialogue is in English in all versions; only the subtitles and interface are localized.
Why some languages are missing
A missing language isn’t a decision aimed against its players; it simply reflects how localization is planned for online games. Dune: Awakening is a live game where the text changes with every chapter, so each added language means ongoing costs, not a one-off translation. Publishers therefore bet on the languages with the largest player bases, and not every language makes the cut.
The good news is that this doesn’t close the door for good: live games keep adding localizations even years after release. While you wait for more languages, you can still bring home a piece of Arrakis – the GamersTogether shop has fan-made Dune: Awakening merch, t-shirts, posters and mugs.
What to do if your language isn’t supported
- English is the only complete option. The voice-over is in English even in the localized versions, so the audio is the same for everyone.
- It’s manageable. The game works with a few dozen recurring terms (spice, stillsuit, Landsraad, sietch). Once you know them, you can work out the rest from context.
- Guides. What’s missing in the game itself can be made up for outside it. Our guides explain game terms the first time they come up.
Glossary of terms you’ll find in guides
| Term | What it is |
|---|---|
| Stillsuit | a distilling suit that recycles the body’s water |
| Landsraad | the assembly of noble houses, a source of weekly rewards |
| Spice Melange | spice, the most valuable resource and a crafting material |
| Testing Station | challenge dungeons, for example 136 or 89 |
| Augment | augments, endgame gear upgrades |
FAQ
Funcom hasn’t announced a localization for Czech, for example. Live games do add localizations even years later, but without an official statement any date is speculation.
There’s no officially supported translation for missing languages such as Czech. With online games, modifying game files may also violate the terms of service, so we don’t recommend going that route.
Yes. Spoken dialogue is in English in all versions; only the subtitles and interface are localized.
The gameplay, yes; the story, less so. You can pick up the systems by watching, but quests and their objectives rely on text. Guides can help you catch up.
Information verified as of 7 September 2026. The language list matches Funcom’s official support; if new languages are added, we’ll update the article. In the Dune: Awakening section you’ll find, for example, the Chapter 2 walkthrough, Great Convention Part II and Regis components. We cover the same question for ARC Raiders too.
