Warning, major spoilers: this covers the entire campaign, including the final ARK sequence. If you’re in the middle of a playthrough, skip straight to the fight you’re stuck on.
The bosses in Resident Evil Requiem are all built the same way: each one has one specific answer, and everything else is wasted ammo. The table below gives that answer for all nine, and beneath it are the special infected that decide how many rounds you even have left when you reach a boss.
Every boss and how to beat it
| Boss | Key to the fight |
|---|---|
| The Girl | light is your only weapon; damage does nothing |
| Chunk | two brothers, two characters, the same solution both times |
| Blister Borne | shoot the tumors, not the body |
| Titan Spinner | keep moving and shoot the tanks |
| Mr. X / Super Tyrant | a familiar enemy, new rules |
| Plant 43 | three targets inside a time window |
| The Commander | parry or die; there’s no third option |
| Victor, phase 1 | the tentacle and electricity |
| Victor / Nemesis, phase 2 | pustules first, then everything else |
Special infected decide your ammo supply
Blister Heads: finish off what you knock down
Every regular zombie you knock down and don’t finish off can come back later as a Blister Head: faster, more unpredictable and dealing much more damage. The fix is to destroy the head or the whole body before you move on:
| Method | How it works | Character |
|---|---|---|
| Hemolytic Injector | jabbing a zombie triggers an internal explosion | Grace |
| Leon’s hatchet | a kick drops the enemy to its knees, then decapitation | Leon |
| High-caliber weapons | the Requiem pistol or a sniper rifle, one shot to the head | both |
The most common mistake is saving ammo by shooting bodies and leaving them lying there. That isn’t a kill, it’s a time bomb.
Singers, Chainsaw Charlies and Lickers
- Singers scream, which throws off your aim, and in a room with several of them the disorientation stacks. Take them down at the first scream: the rounds cost less than that debuff during a chase or in a section with little ammo.
- Chainsaw Charlies are genuinely dangerous. Even a downed Charlie can kill you, because the saw keeps spinning, and a dropped saw that’s still running keeps doing damage. Keep your distance and use a shotgun to the body.
- Lickers are back, wall climbing included. You can counter the leap with a knife or the hatchet, and the tongue lash can be parried with the hatchet, which also completes the “Cat Got Your Tongue” challenge. Above all, don’t let them push you into a corner.
- Garmr, the evolved descendants of Cerberus, show up in Leon’s fast on-rails section. It’s pure endurance: keep firing, deal with the closest ones and don’t let them reach the vehicle.
How to prepare for the bosses
- Save ammo by finishing enemies off. Every Blister Head you prevent is ammo you’ll still have for the bosses.
- Learn the hatchet parry. It gets you through the Licker fights and comes in handy again against The Commander.
- Hold on to your high-caliber weapons. Bosses with specific weak points (Blister Borne’s tumors, the three targets on Plant 43) reward precision, not volume.
- Plan for phases. Victor changes the rules between the first and second phase, and treating it as one fight is the fastest way to die.
FAQ
Nine fights that count as main bosses, including Victor’s two phases, plus special infected that act as recurring threats.
With light, not gunfire. Damage isn’t a mechanic in this fight, which is why players who treat it as a shootout get stuck.
Revived zombies you didn’t finish off. They come back faster and stronger, so always destroy the head or the body before you move on.
Yes. The saw keeps spinning even when he’s down, and a dropped running saw hurts anyone who steps into it.
A fast on-rails sequence with Leon and a submachine gun. It’s an endurance test: deal with the closest ones and don’t let them reach the vehicle.
