Great Convention Part II, Act 4 is a chain of arena fights in Neo Carthag with two field missions in the middle. If you show up prepared, it isn’t a hard quest. If you don’t, it’s a slog, because half the content depends on gear you can’t craft on the spot.
Don’t start without this
| Item | What it’s for |
|---|---|
| Cutteray | several doors along the route, including the Downed Ship |
| Radiation suit | the passage at the Wreck of Hephaestus |
| Hand scanner | tracking clues in the Deep Desert |
| Mk5–Mk6 weapons | arena bosses |
| Healkits, lots of them | you enter the arena with whatever health you have |
Requirement: you need to have finished Great Convention Part I, specifically Noctua’s Return, otherwise Call to Arms won’t appear at all.
Call To Arms: how to get in
Head to Harko Village and find Elara Tuek in the back room of the bar. She sends you to a contact at the north exit, who takes you to the Neo Carthag Arena.
First tier: Scavengers and Brute the Scrapper
You start the fights by talking to Maksim Dubrov at the arena gate. First come roughly eight Mk4-level Scavengers; with Mk6 gear they go down in one hit.
Heal up beforehand. There’s a vendor behind you on the right, and you enter the arena with your current health; you can’t top up once you’re inside.
Brute the Scrapper is the first real fight: three phases, roughly Mk5 level.
- At the start of each phase, two unshielded melee enemies spawn. Take them out first.
- Break his shield right away; it doesn’t regenerate.
- Ranged combat works better, because in melee he’s almost impossible to stagger.
Secrets of the Exile: the trip to Sheol
Maksim sends you after a missing courier. This is where you need the radiation suit and the cutteray.
- Head to northwest Sheol and find the downed ornithopter. Inspect the body near the wreck and loot the metal container.
- Continue south to the Wreck of the Ourea and open the Downed Ship door with the cutteray.
- Inside is the Radiation Core, and you have to seal it by interacting with the machine in the room behind it. This is exactly the step people miss.
- On the way out, three enemies ambush you. Whether you kill them or run past them makes no difference to the quest.
Second tier: Kirab waves and Aren the Exile
Back in the arena, three waves of Mk5-level Kirabs arrive. By this point it’s routine.
Aren the Exile follows the same structure as Brute and summons helpers in every phase, but he’s easy to stagger. A chain of slow blade attacks keeps him under control and he never gets going.
Breaking the Chains: the hunt in the Deep Desert
This is where you need the scanner. Maksim sends you after an elacca shipment in the Deep Desert, sector A9; enter from the northeast point.
- At the downed ornithopter, scan to the left in the direction of the testing station. Tracks appear that lead to Testing Station 217.
- Inside is one lockable room with three enemies, all around Mk5.
- The quest item is down the stairs behind the locked room.
- Collect three elacca crates around the station. Atreides soldiers spawn at each one, so clear some space before the last one.
Third tier
The final arena round sends in drugged fighters and slavers, and only then comes the Master of Chains. The same rule applies to both waves: kill the shooters first and circle around shielded melee enemies rather than trading blows with them. After clearing the arena, treat yourself to the fan-made Dune: Awakening merch at the GamersTogether shop – t-shirts, posters and mugs.
FAQ
You haven’t finished Great Convention Part I. Specifically, Noctua’s Return has to be done, otherwise the quest won’t appear.
Yes. You can’t get through the passage at the Wreck of Hephaestus without it, and there’s no improvised way around the radiation.
In the Deep Desert, sector A9, entering from the northeast point. At the downed ornithopter, scan to the left and the tracks will lead you there.
Kill the two helpers at the start of each phase, then break his shield immediately (it doesn’t regenerate) and fight at range, because in melee he’s almost unstoppable.
No. You go in with what you have, so use the vendor behind you on the right before you talk to Maksim.
