AION 2 Urugugu Canyon: Dungeon Guide

Urugugu Canyon is the second Conquest expedition you can get into in AION 2. Entry requires Lv. 45 and item level 1,600, and killing all three bosses gets you 405,000 Kinah. This guide shows you how to get through it, how that amount adds up and why the final boss one-shots you if you go in alone.

We’re talking about the Conquest version in AION 2, not the Exploration variant of the same place for level 30. People mix them up a lot: YouTube guides for both versions sit side by side, and they have completely different entry requirements.

In the list of Conquest expeditions, Urugugu Canyon is the second tier. Below it is Draupnir with one star and item level 1,000; above it are Fire Temple and Ferocious Horn with three stars and Cradle of Nihility with four. Moving up from Draupnir means 600 more item level, which is one solid round of enchanting your gear.

Normal or Hard?

The answer is simpler than you’d expect: Normal and Hard barely differ. On Hard the mobs are stronger and tankier and the main boss gives more Kinah, and that’s the whole difference. Hard adds no new mechanics, so if you can do Normal, you can do Hard.

Why it pays to kill all three bosses

Just like in the other Conquest expeditions, each of the three bosses has its own reward pool, and each one contains 135,000 Kinah at a 100% chance. So the math is straightforward:

  • Kill all three → 135,000 × 3 = 405,000 Kinah.
  • Kill only the final one → you get a third and miss out on two chances at drops.

On top of that the pools drop SilentiumSoul CodexEnhance Stone and other materials. Since a run already uses up one of your three weekly slots, there’s no point cutting it short.

Divine Auldor Mask (helmet skin)2%

That 2% on the Divine Auldor Mask is the only cosmetic on the whole list, a helmet skin modeled on the final boss. If you run Urugugu Canyon for anything other than Kinah, this is it.

The rarest items sit in Reward Pool 1, which runs at 0.25% or 0.5% depending on the boss. It drops heroic items, specifically Ancient Spirit Earrings.

One note on heroic items: in the Korean and Taiwanese versions they drop from Urugugu Canyon, but by all indications they won’t be there at the global launch and will most likely be added in later updates. Treat this as an observation from the KR/TW servers, not as the confirmed state of the global version.

Step-by-step walkthrough of the instance

Urugugu Canyon takes you through four areas:

  1. Urugugu Village: the entry village.
  2. Urugugu Canyon: the canyon itself.
  3. Windy Valley: a valley you have to explore.
  4. Auldor’s Sanctum: the sanctum with the final boss.

Between Windy Valley and the sanctum you climb up using a windstream and an updraft. The game treats it as a separate quest step, not just a quick run-through, so expect to spend a while maneuvering in the air, similar to flying in the open world. Mounts don’t work in the instance.

Bosses and their mechanics

All three are level 53, even though the instance lets you in at 45. You can feel the level gap: the bosses have a lot of health and can take a beating.

Guardian Captain Raur and Judge Urahum

Two side bosses, and good news: neither has a special mechanic. They have high endurance, lots of health and high defense, and their skills revolve around blocking damage and boosting their resistance. That means the fight takes a while, but nothing in it will surprise you.

It’s a test of endurance, not execution. If your gear is on the weaker side, the main thing to expect is that it’ll take a long time.

The boss that opens the way up

After both side bosses, one more smaller boss is waiting for you. It isn’t part of the trio with reward pools; its job is to clear the way up. Once it falls, you head straight to the final boss.

Divine Auldor: the tempest that kills solo players

The final boss and the only place where you can actually fail Urugugu Canyon. At first you just hit him normally and nothing special happens. Then comes the tempest.

The mechanic is simple to describe and merciless to execute: the game marks one player and everyone else has to stand with them. The damage is then split among everyone standing together.

If you’re standing there alone, it’s split among one person, and that’s a one-shot. It doesn’t matter how much health you have. That’s the whole trick of Urugugu Canyon and also the reason most players don’t clear it on the first try.

Solo or as a duo?

We recommend that you go with at least two players. With a second player next to you, the tempest damage gets split and the mechanic stops being lethal. Without one, you need to take the boss down before he even gets to trigger it.

That only works in one case: when you have Combat Power of around half a million. Then you drop Divine Auldor practically instantly and never see the mechanic. With regular gear at the entry requirement level, though, a solo run ends with the tempest taking you out. Solo clears of Urugugu Canyon do exist and you’ll find them on YouTube, mostly from tanks and classes that get around the mechanic through survivability. So it isn’t impossible; it just takes a lot more than the game asks for at the entrance. If you’re just starting out, find a teammate. A random player from your Legion or from the queue is enough.

FAQ

What level do you need for Urugugu Canyon?

The Conquest version requires level 45 and item level 1,600. Watch out for a mix-up: the Exploration variant of the same place is for around level 30 and has completely different requirements and rewards. In the Expedition menu, Urugugu Canyon is marked with two stars.

How much Kinah does Urugugu Canyon give?

405,000 Kinah for killing all three bosses. The amount is made up of three equal parts of 135,000, because each boss has its own reward pool. If you only kill the final one, you take home a third and also lose two chances at item drops.

What’s the difference between Normal and Hard?

Minimal. On Hard the mobs are stronger and tankier and the main boss gives more Kinah. Hard adds no new mechanics, so if you can handle Normal, you can handle Hard with better gear.

Why does Divine Auldor kill me in one hit?

He triggers the tempest mechanic, where the game marks one player and everyone else has to gather around them. The damage is then split among everyone standing together. If you’re there alone, all of it lands on you and it’s a one-shot regardless of your health.

Can you do Urugugu Canyon solo?

You can, but only with Combat Power of around half a million, because then you take the boss down before he triggers the tempest. With gear at the entry requirement level, a solo run ends in death at the final boss. We recommend bringing at least one teammate.

What is the Divine Auldor Mask and how do you get it?

It’s a cosmetic helmet skin modeled on the final boss and the only cosmetic that drops in Urugugu Canyon. The chance is 2% from the reward pool, so expect dozens of runs. Given the limit of three runs a week, it’s a long-term goal.

The data comes from our own run through the instance on 4 September 2026 on Normal difficulty. Verified as of 4 September 2026. You’ll find more dungeons in the dungeon overview, the reward economy is covered in the article on Kinah, and the rest of the guides are in the AION 2 guide.
