Hidden Fangs is the quest where Crimson Desert asks you to destroy five domed Black Bears war machines: tank-like contraptions with all-around fire that tear Kliff apart within seconds up close. The answer isn’t your sword, it’s the Whistling Arrow and the artillery you have behind you.
The approach in three steps
- Equip Whistling Arrows. Hold left on the D-pad to open equipment selection and pick them.
- Target a machine. Draw your bow and use Precision Aim to lock onto one of the domes.
- Fire. The arrow marks the target and your own artillery destroys the machine with a single salvo.
This keeps you moving and out of the line of fire. Melee is technically possible and practically suicidal, since the cannons fire in every direction at once.
When the quest shows up
Hidden Fangs wraps up the conflict in Calphade during the Turning Tides arc in Chapter 6: Cracks in the Shield. It starts right after you capture the Black Bears base in the In Ashes quest, and the goal is to destroy five war machines and break through the last line of defense.
Arrows are scarce, so plan your route
Kliff carries a limited supply of Whistling Arrows. If you waste them on regular infantry, you’ll be facing the remaining machines with an empty quiver.
There are three supply points on the battlefield, marked on the map with a flag icon. At each one you can:
- fully heal Kliff and your horse,
- restock Whistling Arrows,
- pick up extra healing items.
Each point has a cooldown after use. That’s exactly where people get burned: using up a flag to top off a bit of health means it won’t be there when you actually run out of arrows. Plan your path between the five targets so you always have one fresh point ahead of you.
Target order and what to do about the infantry
The five machines aren’t clustered in one spot, and regular Black Bears infantry moves around between them. They’re only dangerous if you linger.
- Go around the infantry. Ride past them on horseback and don’t touch your Whistling Arrows; every arrow fired at a soldier is one machine you won’t destroy later.
- Start from the edges. Machines at the edges of the battlefield are easier to reach and have fewer escorts than the ones in the middle.
- Aim on the move. Precision Aim works while riding, so you don’t have to stop and offer yourself to a cannon as a target.
- Keep an eye on the flags between targets. The ideal rhythm is to destroy two machines, restock and go for the next two.
What the quest is really testing
For a few minutes, Hidden Fangs switches the game from reflexes to battlefield management. The right instinct isn’t to fight harder but to keep your distance, mark targets and treat the artillery as your weapon. Once a machine turns to face you, it’s already too late.
