Palworld v1.0.4 adds two missions, smarter Pal combat and major fixes

Palworld v1.0.4 has been released, with patch notes dated September 7, 2026. The update adds two connected sub-missions, changes how Pals choose attacks, introduces fishing and server settings, and fixes a long list of progression, combat and building problems.

The most practical changes affect everyday play: summoned Pals and Base Pals now prioritize skills expected to deal more damage, canceled production returns materials to your inventory, and player-built Campfires no longer set you or your Pals on fire. If you do not own the game, you can find it on the Palworld Steam store page.

Two new sub-missions and where to start

  • Beyond Dimensions can be accepted from an NPC at Fisherman’s Point in Mount Obsidian.
  • From the Far Side of the Moon can be progressed after you clear Beyond Dimensions.

The notes give you the starting location and mission order, but do not specify rewards or additional requirements. If you want a separate reference for exploration, our Palworld map and route guide covers where to go and in what order.

Pals and combat: better skill choices and movement adjustments

Summoned Pals and Base Pals have been adjusted to prioritize skills expected to deal higher damage. This changes how they select attacks; it is not a stated damage increase for every skill.

  • Base Pal behavior when using charging-type skills has been adjusted.
  • Mission target Pals and NPCs no longer fall asleep.
  • Lapure’s swimming speed has been adjusted.
  • The homing enhancement value from Lunaris Effigies has been adjusted.
  • Gathering Ancient Bark now requires Work Suitability Lv. 1.
  • Power Bomb has a changed minimum use distance, making repeated unnatural backsteps before use less likely.
  • Summoned Pal backstep behavior has been adjusted for some skills.
  • Core Eject damage for the Core Eject Shotgun has been adjusted.

The notes do not give values or specify whether Lapure’s swimming speed, the Lunaris Effigies enhancement or Core Eject damage increased or decreased.

Fishing gets a new World Settings option

  • Fishing difficulty has been adjusted at fishing spots in Sunreach and the World Tree area.
  • The amount of items obtained from successful fishing has been adjusted for each bait type.
  • Fishing control guides, warning displays and recommended equipment displays have been added or adjusted.
  • World Settings now includes Fish Behavior During Fishing Minigames.

You have a new setting related to fish behavior, but the patch notes do not detail its available options. They also do not say whether the affected fishing spots are easier or harder, or list the revised reward amounts.

Items, rewards and Pal Critic requests

  • You can now drop the Echoing Flute from your inventory.
  • The Pal Critic in Sakurajima now requests Dogen instead of Selyne.
  • The Pal Critic in Sunreach now requests Faleris Aqua instead of Bastigor.

Bases and building: material returns, Campfires and server limits

Canceling work at a production facility now returns materials to your inventory. Construction cancellation and dismantling also have a more specific interaction with the weight-limit pickup option.

  • If Do not automatically pick up items over the weight limit is enabled, canceling construction or dismantling a building drops only the returned materials that exceed your weight limit at your feet.
  • When server building restrictions are enabled, additional no-build areas apply around the desert Field Boss Suzaku, the desert Main Mission cave and some mission locations in Sakurajima.
  • The Ancient Material Synthesizer’s collision has been adjusted.
  • Players, summoned Pals and Base Pals no longer catch fire from contact with player-built Campfires.
  • A new server setting lets administrators limit how many buildings each player can build in the world.

If you want a separate setup reference, our Palworld dedicated server guide covers setting up your own server.
