The AION 2 system requirements are confirmed right on the game’s official Steam page, and at first glance they don’t look scary at all: the minimum is 8 GB of RAM and a GTX 1050 Ti graphics card, the recommended setup 16 GB and an RTX 2070. The catch is in the note below the table. The second catch is that the game wants 100 GB of free disk space.
Before we get to the numbers, one clarification: this overview covers AION 2, the game releasing on 5 October 2026. It does not cover the original AION from 2009, whose requirements (Pentium 4, 1 GB of RAM) still show up prominently in search results and have nothing to do with the sequel. The six key points

- The requirements look low, but NCSOFT itself notes that even on the recommended build you should play at 1080p on the “Low” preset. The minimum corresponds to the “Very Low” preset.
- 100 GB is the official figure for the global PC version. The lower number circulating online refers to a different client, as we explain below.
- The mobile version is a completely different set of numbers and applies to the Korean and Taiwanese releases, not the Western PC version.
- DLSS 4.5 support is confirmed for the Western version right from launch. It only works on GeForce RTX cards, though, so it won’t help you on the minimum-spec GTX 1050 Ti.
Official AION 2 system requirements
At minimum, AION 2 requires 64-bit Windows 10 or 11, a Ryzen 5 2600 or Core i5-10500 processor, 8 GB of RAM, a GTX 1050 Ti graphics card with 4 GB of memory, DirectX 12 and 100 GB of free space. The table below is a complete transcription of the official Steam listing, including the fields most websites leave out.

A few terms, just in case: preset is a predefined level of in-game graphics detail, FHD or Full HD means a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels, DirectX 12 is a set of Windows system libraries for rendering graphics, and SSD is a fast drive with no moving parts. Both tiers also require a 64-bit processor and operating system.
We copied every number in this article directly from the game’s official Steam page (app ID 3393110) and verified them as of 15 August 2026. The game itself is free; the price shown on the Steam listing belongs to the Founder’s Pack Standard, not the game, as we explain in our overview of the price, F2P model and cash shop.
What the numbers actually mean
The community narrative goes “AION 2’s requirements are surprisingly low”. That’s not quite true, and the reason is right there in the official listing. For the minimum configuration, NCSOFT says the preset should be set to “Very Low” at 1080p, and for the recommended one, to “Low”.
That detail matters a lot. The recommended configuration here does not mean high detail at a higher resolution. It means 1080p on low settings. If you want to play on higher settings or at 1440p and above, you’ll need a build that goes beyond what NCSOFT lists.
Here’s a simple way to read them:
- Minimum = the game launches and is playable. 1080p, “Very Low” preset.
- Recommended = the game stays smooth even outside quiet moments. 1080p, “Low” preset.
- Higher settings or higher resolution = outside the official requirements, you need a stronger build.
Neither tier promises a specific frame rate. NCSOFT hasn’t published any FPS targets and there are no independent benchmarks of the global version yet, so this article deliberately gives no specific FPS numbers.
With an MMORPG there’s also one factor that never shows up in the requirements: large-scale battles. When several dozen characters meet in the Abyss PvP zone, each with their own gear and effects, the load falls mainly on the processor, not the graphics card. That’s exactly where a minimum-spec build drops the most.
On top of that there’s Unreal Engine 5, which the game runs on. Its dynamic lighting and detailed geometry tech looks great, but it costs performance. According to NCSOFT, optimization is aimed at the RTX 2070 level; the internal test sessions ran on an RTX 5070, but that’s information about the test conditions, not a requirement for you.

DLSS 4.5 is confirmed: who it actually helps
The latest performance news: on 25 August 2026 at Gamescom, NVIDIA confirmed that the Western version of AION 2 will have DLSS 4.5 support right from launch on 30 September. An official trailer followed two days later. The official requirements table doesn’t change because of it, though. DLSS is an add-on on top of your hardware, not a replacement for it.
DLSS is a set of NVIDIA technologies that use AI to reconstruct the image. Super Resolution renders the game at a lower resolution and upscales it to yours, Frame Generation inserts extra generated frames between the rendered ones, and Ray Reconstruction cleans up the image where the game calculates lighting with ray tracing. Version 4.5 brings newer models for all three parts and dynamic Multi Frame Generation.
The catch is that DLSS runs exclusively on GeForce RTX cards, and the individual parts have different requirements:

In practice this creates an unfortunate irony: DLSS does the most for the people who need it least. If you’re on the official minimum with a GTX 1050 Ti, the recommendation doesn’t change one bit: it’s still the “Very Low” preset at 1080p. If you have the recommended RTX 2070, you gain headroom that lets you try a higher preset or 1440p; that’s no guarantee, though, because in large-scale battles the limit is the processor, which DLSS doesn’t affect.
And it isn’t just a promise on paper. The Korean and Taiwanese version has had DLSS Super Resolution, Frame Generation and NVIDIA Reflex since its launch on 19 November 2025, and since the 24 December 2025 update also DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation for the RTX 50 series. So the Western client isn’t starting from scratch.
What about ray tracing? Our take
Neither NCSOFT nor NVIDIA has explicitly confirmed ray tracing in AION 2, but two things point to it. First: DLSS 4.5 includes Ray Reconstruction, a technology that cleans up noise in a scene calculated with ray tracing; in a purely rasterized game it has nothing to do. Second: NVIDIA released the 27 August trailer under the RTX label, which it uses specifically for games with ray tracing.
Logically, then, we expect AION 2 to work with ray tracing, either through Lumen, Unreal Engine 5’s built-in dynamic lighting that can run even without hardware ray tracing support, or as an optional toggle for cards with enough power for it. Treat this as our reading of the available clues, not as official information. Ray tracing hasn’t made it into the game’s Steam description yet and NCSOFT is silent on it.
The practical impact is small either way. If the toggle does appear in the settings, on builds around the recommended RTX 2070 you’ll most likely leave it off: ray tracing eats performance exactly where you need it most in large-scale battles. Turning it on only makes sense on cards that can afford it, and only there does the Ray Reconstruction part of the DLSS 4.5 package pay off.
What is not confirmed: support for AMD FSR or Intel XeSS. If you have a Radeon or Arc card, you’re still waiting for an official statement, and speculation that “it’ll definitely be there” has no basis in any source.
Will AION 2 run on your PC? What it means for real builds
Component model numbers don’t mean much until you map them to your own PC. Here are the four most common situations and an answer for each.
What exactly are the GTX 1050 Ti and RTX 2070
The GTX 1050 Ti is a card from 2016 with 4 GB of dedicated memory. By the time AION 2 releases it will be ten years old, and even back then it was lower mid-range. The RTX 2070 is a card from 2018 with 8 GB of memory, upper mid-range at the time. The bar really is low.
It’s similar with processors: the Ryzen 5 2600 dates from 2018 and the Core i5-10500 from 2020, the recommended Ryzen 7 3700X from 2019 and the Core i7-11700 from 2021. VRAM in the table means the memory on the graphics card itself, separate from your PC’s system memory.
If you have an AMD card, roughly speaking that’s RX 470 (4 GB) level for the minimum and RX 5700 XT (8 GB) for the recommended configuration. Treat this as our own comparison aid, not an official requirement, since NCSOFT doesn’t list AMD alternatives on Steam.
A gaming PC from the last few years
If you have a dedicated graphics card with 8 GB of memory and 16 GB of RAM, you’re above the recommended configuration and don’t need to worry about anything. That covers the vast majority of computers bought as gaming PCs after 2020. The only thing to keep an eye on is free disk space.
An older or office PC
Check two numbers: 8 GB of RAM and a dedicated graphics card with 4 GB. Office machines usually meet the processor and memory requirements but have no dedicated graphics card, and that’s exactly where they fall short. The cheapest upgrade is usually adding a graphics card, not replacing the whole computer.
Laptops and integrated graphics
A gaming laptop with a dedicated graphics card (GTX 1650 series and up, any RTX) will run the game. Keep two things in mind: laptop versions of graphics cards tend to be slower than desktop cards with the same name, and the laptop needs to be plugged in, because performance drops significantly on battery.
A laptop with integrated graphics (Intel UHD, Intel Iris Xe, AMD Radeon Graphics in U-series processors) is a different story. Integrated graphics is a video chip built directly into the processor, with no separate card. NCSOFT doesn’t list it among supported options at all, so there’s no official answer. At best, expect a barely playable experience on the lowest settings, but more likely not even that.
The Steam Deck doesn’t have a compatibility rating from Valve yet. The game is built for Windows and DirectX 12, so it would have to run through the Proton layer, but that isn’t confirmed.

How much disk space AION 2 takes
AION 2 requires 100 GB of free space, the same for the minimum and recommended configuration. An SSD is officially recommended, not mandatory. In an MMORPG it mainly shows up as shorter zone loading and faster texture streaming while you travel.
You’ll run into a figure that contradicts this number: a size of roughly 55 GB is floating around online, but that’s a community estimate of the Taiwanese client. That client is installed by players who want to play right now; we describe the process in our guide on how to get onto the Taiwanese server. The global PC version on Steam takes 100 GB and is a different client.
NCSOFT hasn’t commented on why the difference is so big. A likely explanation (treat it as interpretation, not fact) is that the Asian build is designed for PC and mobile at the same time, whereas the global release is being built specifically for PC. In practice: 100 GB is a free space requirement, not necessarily the final install size. Leave some extra room for updates, which come often for this game; we track the pace of the Asian version in the AION 2 roadmap.
AION 2 mobile version: completely different numbers
Before you look at the following figures: they apply to the Korean and Taiwanese client, not the Western release. NCSOFT describes the global version as built specifically for PC, and a mobile client for the West isn’t confirmed. We have the full breakdown in our overview of AION 2 platforms.
NCSOFT hasn’t published official system requirements for the mobile version. The following figures come from the Google Play listing and from community sources that contradict each other.
- 6 GB of RAM: the only verifiably official number, from the Google Play listing.
- 5–15 GB of storage: a range, not a single number; sources differ.
- Operating system: the safer estimate is Android 10 or later, or iOS 14 or later. Lower values (Android 8, iOS 12) are given only by some sources.
The mobile version got its own image reconstruction too: the 26 August 2026 update to the Asian client added Neural Frame Fusion, which you’ll find in the graphics settings under the Upscaler option. So far only a narrow selection of Samsung Galaxy devices supports it. It has nothing to do with the PC version, but it shows that NCSOFT is working on frame generation on both platforms.
The mobile client is roughly ten times smaller than the PC version. That’s the easiest way to picture the difference, and also the best reason not to use mobile numbers as a guide for PC.
Watch out for websites with different numbers
Open three websites and you’ll get three answers, and it’s not your fault. Five of the ten top-ranking sources in search results list requirements that are factually different from those on the game’s official page.
You’ll mainly come across two wrong sets. The first claims the minimum is 16 GB of RAM and a GTX 1660 and that the game takes 40 to 50 GB; you’ll find it on blogs run by connection optimizer vendors, and one of them even states in the text that no official specs exist yet, which hasn’t been true since April 2026. The second lists a GTX 1060 or RX 580 and 50 GB and is an older estimate from before the official numbers were published.

It’s not just fringe websites. The wrong 16 GB RAM figure has even made it into answers Google shows directly in search results, so relying on the first thing you see really isn’t enough here.
Practical tip: the only reliable source is the game’s Steam page, app ID 3393110. If any website differs from it, Steam wins. You can also spot an outdated source when it talks about a release “in mid-2026”, lists a GTX 1060 or RX 580 as the minimum or 50 GB of storage, or claims console versions are confirmed.
How to find out what’s in your PC
You don’t need to install anything; Windows has all the tools built in:
- Press Win + R, type dxdiag and hit Enter.
- The System tab shows your processor, amount of RAM and Windows version.
- The Display tab shows your graphics card and its memory.
- You can check free space in This PC: right-click the drive and choose Properties.
- Whether your drive is an SSD is shown in Task Manager on the Performance tab.
What to do with the result? If your graphics card falls short, you’re looking at the lowest settings or an upgrade. If your RAM falls short, closing background apps or adding memory will help. A slow drive means longer loading, but it doesn’t affect how smoothly the game runs.
There are also automatic tools that detect your hardware for you. They require installing their own program, though, so treat them as an extra; dxdiag is part of Windows and does the job.
What we don’t know yet
- Whether the game will also support AMD FSR or Intel XeSS. NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 support is confirmed, but no official source is talking about the competing technologies.
- Whether the global version will offer ray tracing as an optional setting. The clues point that way and we go through our take above, but official confirmation is missing.
- How it handles ultrawide monitors.
- What the actual install size will be after release.
- Actual performance on specific builds, since there are no independent benchmarks of the global version yet.
