Damiane is the second playable character in Crimson Desert, and she is not just Kliff in disguise. He lives off blocks and counterattacks; she builds on speed, spacing and precision. She also has her own skill tree, so every Abyss Artifact you spend on her is one Kliff doesn’t get. Here’s the order to spend them in.
What carries over and what doesn’t
- Shared: investments in health, Spirit and stamina apply to all characters.
- Not shared: Abyss Artifacts spent on specific nodes belong to that one tree only.
- Free: Damiane starts with Quick Swap already unlocked.
Priority order
| Priority | Skill | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Armed Combat level 2 | Evasive Smite, a burst of light on a backward dodge, with more reach than Kliff’s dodge |
| 2 | Smiting Strike 2 and 3 | an extra follow-up hit, then Rend Armor to ignore Super Armor |
| 3 | Sword Flurry (level 2) | an attack while sidestepping, twice in a row at level 2 |
| 4 | Piercing Light 2 + Grappling 5 | Uppercut, Aerial Grapple and the Screwdriver finisher |
| 5 | Shield Toss 2 + Shield Sentinel | five bounces instead of three and a shield that fights on its own |
| 6 | Focused Shot level 3 | slowed time and shooting while dodging, your answer to flying enemies |
| 7 | Imbue Element | elemental damage on Smiting Strike once you find an element |
Why these skills
Rend Armor (Smiting Strike 3) is the biggest unlock in the whole tree. Your hits now interrupt elite enemies who would otherwise use Super Armor to power through your hits, and trades that used to go against you suddenly go your way.
Shield Sentinel basically gives you a combat drone. Once activated, the shield follows you and fires energy at enemies, adding passive damage in exactly the messy fights where Damiane’s own output drops. It keeps working after you switch weapons or while dual wielding.
Piercing Light 2 and Grappling 5 are her boss killer. Uppercut launches the target, Aerial Grapple follows up, Screwdriver finishes it. Without Grappling 5 the uppercut has no follow-up, which is why even a fast character wants the grappling node.
Elemental magic isn’t in the tree
You can’t buy Imbue Element with artifacts. The elements themselves, fire and lightning, come from elemental trials hidden in the Abyss. Once you complete a trial, the node is worth taking: Smiting Strike with an element goes from a good attack to a boss shredder.
How she plays
Kliff is about timing. Damiane is about flow: dodge in, unload the whole string, get out with Evasive Smite before the counterattack lands. Investing early in Shield Sentinel and Smiting Strike 3 gives you the margin to practice her aerial combos without dying to every elite enemy.
FAQ
No. Base stats like health and stamina are shared, but skill nodes always belong to one tree only.
Yes. It is a timed buff, so the shield keeps firing after you change stance or pick up a second weapon.
Grappling 5 unlocks the finisher for aerial combos. Without it the uppercut only launches the enemy, which won’t kill elite targets.
You have to find and complete the elemental trials in the Abyss. They sit outside the skill tree and are required to activate the node.
No. Crimson Desert is Kliff’s story; you switch to Damiane in specific chapters and activities where her abilities are needed.
