Funcom has pushed another small but important hotfix into Dune: Awakening on Steam. It requires a client-side download, so if the update doesn’t show up on its own, restart your Steam client. Servers were taken down for the deployment and came back up shortly after.
If you want to check whether a problem you’re hitting is already on the radar, the developers keep the list of known issues on their Discord server and on the Steam discussion boards.
Fixes
- Fixed an issue that could cause players to encounter Error 972 during character transfers, which resulted in characters disappearing or showing up as level 0 in the main menu.
- Fixed an issue where the Contagion Cowl cosmetic was missing as a reward for the “Contaiment: Patient Zero” contract. Everyone who already finished the contract gets the item retroactively.
- Fixed an issue where the Scourge event contract “What the Doctor Ordered” could be repeatedly reaccepted. Blood Marks farmed through repeated completions, along with Vials bought with those Blood Marks, have been removed from player inventories.
What it means for you
The Error 972 fix is the big one. Character transfers that ended with a vanished or level 0 character were the kind of bug that makes you afraid to touch the transfer button at all – now that risk is off the table. Transfer errors have been a recurring theme lately, and we covered the previous round in our article on Q73 transfer errors.
If you cleared “Contaiment: Patient Zero” and wondered where your Contagion Cowl went, you don’t have to redo anything – the cosmetic is being granted retroactively.
The last point is less pleasant for anyone who was abusing the repeatable Scourge contract. Blood Marks earned that way are gone, and so are the Vials bought with them, so don’t be surprised by a lighter inventory. Earlier changes to the event itself are described in our piece on the Scourge hotfix.
