Crimson Desert: How to Increase Stamina

Crimson Desert: How to Increase Stamina

By default, stamina in Crimson Desert stops at level 10, and that cap is exactly why you can’t climb some peaks or win some fights. Level 14 can be unlocked, but only through one specific research task at the Urdavah Research Institute. Here’s exactly what it takes.

What you’ll need

RequirementDetail
Research taskRed Seaweed Research at the Urdavah Research Institute
Material10× Red Seaweed (bring 11, the assistant asks for one)
Cost per level5× Abyss Artifact for each level from 11 to 14
Total artifacts20 to reach level 14
PrerequisitesDesert Lifestyle Research and Bioenergy Amplification Research completed

1. Unlock the research with Valtus

The institute is in Urdavah, the northern city of the desert region. Take the elevator in the western part of the institute up to the second floor, where Valtus works.

  • If Valtus won’t talk to you, you most likely haven’t finished Chapter 9 of the main story.
  • The other possibility is the golden statue in the room opposite, to the east. Inspect it and come back.
  • Red Seaweed Research only shows up after you complete Desert Lifestyle and Bioenergy Amplification.

2. Gather Red Seaweed

Red Seaweed grows only on the southeastern coast of Delesyia. A reliable spot is the beaches south of Dewhaven, and you can’t miss it: the bright red clumps grow right by the water.

You need ten pieces for the unlock itself. Pick up an eleventh, because the research stalls halfway through and the assistant asks for a sample.

3. Get past the research stall

After roughly nine hours of in-game time the research stops on its own. It isn’t a bug. Find the research assistant up the stairs to the right of Valtus, hand over one piece of seaweed and the work continues.

This is exactly where most players decide the quest is broken. It isn’t, it’s just waiting for a delivery. Genuinely stuck progress only gets fixed by the developers, most recently in version 2.02.00.

What those four extra levels actually change

Stamina in Crimson Desert isn’t just for sprinting. It affects everything you do both in and out of combat:

  • Gliding – with more stamina you fly farther, which changes where you can get without a portal.
  • Climbing – at level 10 you simply can’t make it up the tallest walls, you run out before you reach the top.
  • Heavy attacks – each level means one or two extra hits in a combo before you have to back off.
  • Dodging – in fights where dodging is your whole defense, running out of stamina is the same as dying.

Is it worth it?

Yes, and it isn’t even close. Going from 10 to 14 changes how far you can glide, how high you can climb and how many heavy attacks you get in before you run out of breath. In the Titan fight or against Ator, where dodging is your entire defense, one extra hit decides the whole attempt.

One warning: Red Seaweed is not refunded when you respec. Once you spend it on stamina levels, it’s gone, so plan your build ahead.

FAQ

What is the maximum stamina level?

Fourteen, and only through the research at the Urdavah Institute. Without it you’re hard-capped at 10, no matter how you build your character.

Valtus won’t give me the quest. Why?

Check that you’ve finished Chapter 9 and completed both Desert Lifestyle Research and Bioenergy Amplification Research. Those two tasks unlock the seaweed research.

Where exactly does Red Seaweed grow?

On the beaches of Delesyia south of Dewhaven, right at the water’s edge. The deep red clumps stand out well against the sand.

How many Abyss Artifacts do I need?

Five for each level from 11 to 14, so 20 in total for maximum stamina.

Do I get the seaweed back if I reset my stats?

No. It’s consumed permanently when you unlock the higher levels, and a stat reset won’t return it.
