What LagoFast is and how it differs from a VPN
LagoFast is a program for Windows (and, according to the developer, also for Mac, mobile and consoles) that recognises a specific game’s traffic and sends it along the route it considers fastest. The developer calls this its own transmission protocol for game data. Everything else, like your browser or Discord, keeps using your normal connection.
That’s the key difference from a VPN. A classic VPN tunnels everything through one server, and its main purpose is to hide where you’re connecting from. A game booster only deals with how packets travel to the game. That’s also why you don’t pick a “country” in a booster, you pick a game server. LagoFast can split the route into several parallel paths (the developer calls it multipath). If one of them wobbles, the others keep the connection alive.
When LagoFast helps in AION 2 and when it doesn’t

According to NCSOFT, the global version of AION 2 gets dedicated regional servers for North America, South America, Europe and Japan. The publisher hasn’t revealed the exact data centre cities, so treat claims like “the servers are in Frankfurt” with caution. How to set up LagoFast step by step
- Open the LagoFast website, download the client and install it.
- Register. After registering, you get LagoFast free for 4 hours. Try it in the game before you start paying.
- In the app, type AION 2 into the search bar and open the game profile.
- Choose the version and server you play on: global (Europe for most readers), or Taiwan or Korea.
- Click Boost. Let it pick the route automatically at first.
- Only then launch the game through PURPLE or Steam. Keep LagoFast running the whole time you play.
- Test it in town, in group content and in PvP. If your ping fluctuates at peak times, try a different node manually.

Plans and what to watch out for
- LagoFast is paid as a subscription for 1, 3, 6 or 12 months, by card or PayPal. Current prices are on the developer’s pricing page; longer plans work out cheaper per month.
- The subscription renews automatically. For the yearly plan, the developer states that the discounted price only applies to the first period.
- You can cancel in the client. Cancellation takes effect from the next period; the current month isn’t refunded.
- According to the terms of use, refunds only apply to the first payment. For subscriptions you can request one within 15 days of payment, and the developer deducts a 2 USD fee.
If you only play on Taiwan until the global launch and then move to a European server where your ping is fine, a short plan is enough. A yearly plan makes sense if you play on a distant server long-term or boost other games too.
Is using LagoFast in AION 2 safe?
Precision matters here. NCSOFT has not officially commented on game boosters; it has neither banned nor explicitly allowed them. In January 2026, however, it announced that it is blocking specific overseas VPN connections on the Korean and Taiwanese servers and introducing hardware-based restrictions.
LagoFast states on its blog that there’s no risk of being banned. That’s the seller’s claim, not a guarantee from the game’s publisher, and its terms of use don’t accept liability for restrictions on your game account. A sensible approach:
- Use the booster only to optimise your connection, not for anything that changes the game.
- Don’t buy or take over other people’s game accounts. That’s a risk in itself, booster or not.
