What LagoFast is and how it differs from a VPN

LagoFast is a program for Windows (and, according to the developer, also for Mac, mobile and consoles) that recognises a specific game’s traffic and sends it along the route it considers fastest. The developer calls this its own transmission protocol for game data. Everything else, like your browser or Discord, keeps using your normal connection.

That’s the key difference from a VPN. A classic VPN tunnels everything through one server, and its main purpose is to hide where you’re connecting from. A game booster only deals with how packets travel to the game. That’s also why you don’t pick a “country” in a booster, you pick a game server. LagoFast can split the route into several parallel paths (the developer calls it multipath). If one of them wobbles, the others keep the connection alive.

When LagoFast helps in AION 2 and when it doesn’t

To be honest: a booster won’t speed up your internet plan or fix a weak PC. It only shortens or steadies the path between you and the server. Whether it’s worth it depends on where you play.

Situation	What to expect from LagoFast
You play from Europe on the Taiwanese or Korean server	This is where a booster makes the most sense. The route to Asia is long and passes through many hops, so there’s room to cut and stabilise.
You play on the European server of the global version	Ping is usually decent without it. It mainly helps when your latency jumps around or you lose packets, typically during evening peak hours.
You play with friends on an American server	Same logic as Asia: a long route with room for improvement.
Your lag comes from home Wi-Fi or a weak PC	It won’t help here. Start with a cable and check the system requirements.

According to NCSOFT, the global version of AION 2 gets dedicated regional servers for North America, South America, Europe and Japan. The publisher hasn’t revealed the exact data centre cities, so treat claims like “the servers are in Frankfurt” with caution. In AION 2, ping matters most in the Abyss and in group content, where a late dodge or a missed interrupt can cost you your life.

What LagoFast supports for AION 2

LagoFast has a dedicated AION 2 profile. According to the developer’s game page, support looks like this:

DPS meter for AION 2: what the whole party is doing

The game’s built-in combat stats only show your own character. If you lead parties in Conquest, Transcendence or the Abyss, you want to see the whole group. That’s exactly what the DPS meter in LagoFast does; the developer calls it the Real-time DPS Tracker. It’s part of the subscription, with nothing extra to pay.

What it shows:

• a live ranking of party members by damage, in an overlay on top of the game,
• total damage next to DPS per second, so you can tell who keeps up the pressure and who only bursts at the start,
• a breakdown by skills, buffs and critical hits for every player,
• an alert for a member who isn’t doing anything in the fight.

Why you don’t need to worry about it: LagoFast has a paid API for AION 2 directly from NC. The meter reads its data through an official channel and doesn’t touch the game client. That’s a real difference from freely shared meters, because since 11 October 2026 NC has been restricting accounts for unauthorized programs.

How to turn it on:

1. Open the AION 2 profile in LagoFast.
2. In the Game tools section, pick Real-time DPS Tracker.
3. Switch Team DPS Tracking Tool to On before you launch the game.
4. Choose your server, click Boost and only then start the game via Start Game. The overlay appears in-game.

What it’s most useful for: checking whether new stigmas or a rebuilt macro actually added damage, and finding the weak spot in a party without arguments in chat. The builds we compare the meter against are in our AION 2 guides.

How to set up LagoFast step by step

1. Open the LagoFast website, download the client and install it.
2. Register. After registering, you get LagoFast free for 4 hours. Try it in the game before you start paying.
3. In the app, type AION 2 into the search bar and open the game profile.
4. Choose the version and server you play on: global (Europe for most readers), or Taiwan or Korea.
5. Click Boost. Let it pick the route automatically at first.
6. Only then launch the game through PURPLE or Steam. Keep LagoFast running the whole time you play.
7. Test it in town, in group content and in PvP. If your ping fluctuates at peak times, try a different node manually.

One practical tip: compare in the same place at the same time of day. Ping in an empty zone in the morning and in a packed city in the evening have nothing in common, booster or not.

Plans and what to watch out for

• LagoFast is paid as a subscription for 1, 3, 6 or 12 months, by card or PayPal. Current prices are on the developer’s pricing page; longer plans work out cheaper per month.
• The subscription renews automatically. For the yearly plan, the developer states that the discounted price only applies to the first period.
• You can cancel in the client. Cancellation takes effect from the next period; the current month isn’t refunded.
• According to the terms of use, refunds only apply to the first payment. For subscriptions you can request one within 15 days of payment, and the developer deducts a 2 USD fee.

If you only play on Taiwan until the global launch and then move to a European server where your ping is fine, a short plan is enough. A yearly plan makes sense if you play on a distant server long-term or boost other games too.

Is using LagoFast in AION 2 safe?

Precision matters here. LagoFast has a paid API for AION 2 directly from NC, so both the booster and the DPS meter run through an official channel. NCSOFT hasn’t published a general statement on game boosters. In January 2026, however, it announced that it is blocking specific overseas VPN connections on the Korean and Taiwanese servers and introducing hardware-based restrictions.

Still, nobody can give you a guarantee: LagoFast’s terms of use don’t accept liability for restrictions on your game account. A sensible approach:

• Use the booster only to optimise your connection, not for anything that changes the game.
• Don’t buy or take over other people’s game accounts. That’s a risk in itself, booster or not.
• Keep an eye on NCSOFT’s announcements. If the rules change, we’ll write about it.
